FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is permanent makeup?

A. Permanent makeup, or cosmetic tattooing, is a fast-growing part of the health and beauty industry. The process is like getting a semi permanent tattoo. The technician applying permanent makeup uses a needle that penetrates your skin and releases pigment.

Q. Where can I be treated?

A. Eyes- Permanent eyeliner is perfect for the client with sparse eyelashes. A soft natural liner in the lashes can create a fuller lash appearance or a thicker line can create a more dramatic look.
Lips- The lip area can be naturally lined for a more ombré look or filled in completely for a lipstick look. Lips can be made to appear fuller or an asymmetrical line can be corrected. Faded lip borders can easily be defined. Scars that may have altered the natural contour of your lips can be corrected.
Eyebrows- An eyebrow can be created or defined for anyone who does has thin to no eyebrow hair or anyone who just wants to fill in a brow to look thicker and fuller. Remember, the eyebrows frame your face and are the most important part of your expression.

Q .What are the regulations for this service?

A. The state of Colorado requires that only a licensed esthetician or cosmetologist be permitted to perform this service.  In addition, the technician must have completed a 132-hour Permanent Makeup Certification course through a state recognized school.  This training covers the fundamentals of cosmetic tattooing for brows, eyes, and lips. Studio K10 Permanent Makeup has been inspected and opened by Boulder County Public Health.  Our location meets all zoning codes/regulations for the services provided.

Q. Is a touchup necessary after my first session?

A. The first touch up should be scheduled no sooner than 4 weeks and no later than 8 weeks following the first session. This touch-up appointment is crucial for the best results.  Additional touch-up appointments may be needed for oily, problematic skin, those with dark pigmented skin and clients who do not follow aftercare instructions properly.

Q. What can I expect during the healing process for permanent makeup?

A. Healed results will vary with each individual client. NO guarantees can be made, additional sessions may be required to obtain optimal results. This will result in additional charges. Although we give our best efforts to provide you with quality service, many factors can result in a less than desired outcome as each client will heal differently.
There are three stages to healing:
1-4 days- Initially, the new tattooed pigment will appear more intense than expected. Oxidation and blood rushing to the skin's surface darkens the appearance of the tattooed pigment.
2-7 days- The pigment color of your procedure will be significantly softer and lighter during the healing process. The "disappearing act" is due to the immaturity of the epidermal cells. These cells have been exposed to pigment and the sloughing process disrupted. Your tattooed area will have a milky cast, diffusing the original chosen color. The pigment doesn't go anywhere. It's just not as visible through the "veil" of tissue during the wound-rebuilding stage, resulting from tattoo actuation.
5-30 days- Translucency is slowly restored and you will see the pigment color deposited in the dermis. While these injected pigment tones may initially simulate the exact color chosen, it will not always be a perfect match. The tones of the injected pigment remain constant, while your own skin tones change depending upon exposure to cold, heat, sun, circulatory changes and medications.

Q. How long will my permanent makeup last?

A. The length of time permanent makeup will last is different for each individual. Factors that affect the length are: sun exposure, colors chosen, skin type, metabolism and compliance with the after-care instructions. Typically Permanent Makeup will last approximately 1 to 3 years. However fading does occur so annual touch ups are recommended for best results.

Q. Am I a candidate for permanent makeup?

A. There are several factors that can affect retention therefore a consultation is necessary. Do not schedule Permanent Makeup Service if the following condition(s) apply to you:
