Aftercare

Please read the following information to learn about the aftercare instructions.

Permanent makeup is permanent wherever it is tattooed because the pigment molecules remain in the skin. That is why it is critical that you choose a well-trained, knowledgeable, and experienced professional for your procedure. However, the color of your permanent makeup will be semi-permanent. It will require some maintenance because it will fade over the years. How quickly your color fades will depend on several factors: Following after care instructions, UV exposure (sun or tanning beds), skin care treatments, health conditions, medications, lifestyle (e.g., smoking), and the original color implanted (lighter colors fade faster than darker ones). Many people schedule a “booster” visit every few years to refresh their makeup color

EYEBROW AFTER CARE

What to expect following the procedure:

Proper care following your procedure is important and required to achieve optimal results. After your procedure you WILL be swollen. Some client swell minimally and some will swell more. Everyone heals differently. This can cause the area(s) to appear un-even, red, itchy and irritated while healing. The area will also appear much darker and thicker than the final result. It’s not uncommon for the procedure area to shrink anywhere from 10%-40%. This typically happens within 3-30 days of the first procedure. There WILL be some shedding and/or peeling or scabbing of the skin with some remnants of the color in it as the treated area heals. DO NOT PICK! Some areas of the procedure may fade more than others and as the pigment oxidizes it will start to darken up again over 2-4 weeks. This is 100% normal and expected After the follow up visit, the body is used to the pigment and will retain much better and won’t fade as much as the initial procedure. All permanent makeup requires two or more procedures and maintenance “color boosts” to keep the procedure looking its best. Your skin type, lifestyle and aftercare will play a major roll in the final result.

Aftercare instructions:

• For the first day, blot area with a clean cool wet cotton round once every 30 minutes. Before bed, using a mild antibiotic soap, gently wash and dry the area. Then use a fresh q-tip to apply aquaphor ointment, flip it and wipe off excess. You only need a light coat of ointment as a barrier so the skin can also breathe. Wash the area twice a day.• Keep your eyebrow area clean and dry during the healing process (14 days).
• Apply Aquaphor ointment 1 to 2 times a day, do not let your brows get dry & crusty. It is absolutely imperative that you do not let the brow area dry out, as this will create dryness and scabbing, resulting in the loss of color and shading. It is best to apply the ointment approximately 1 to 2 times a day for 7 to 10 days.
• During healing process DO NOT expose your new procedure to chemicals, hot tubs, saunas, direct shower spray, hot water, salt water, steam, chlorinated pools, lakes or ponds.
• Do NOT exercise for 10 days! Do not do any activity that causes you to sweat.
• Absolutely NO sun exposure or tanning/tanning beds during healing.
• Don’t touch with fingers. Stay away from dirt (gardening or sport activities) to prevent possible infections.
• Absolutely NO pet grooming, gardening, dusting or anything that causes dust, dirt and dander for a minimum of 72 hours. Waiting 7 full days is best.
• No water activities, no horseback riding, no camping, hiking, biking, skiing or snowboarding for the first 14 days.
• DO NOT PICK, PEEL, OR SCRATCH the treated area or your color may heal
unevenly and you risk scarring and infection. Itching is also common but do not rub your eyebrow area or pick at it if it starts to peel and flake, if you notice a little lifting of color, apply ointment again and let it fall off naturally.
• No topical makeup on healing procedure(s) for a minimum of 7 days. You may apply makeup around the new procedure but avoid on healing areas. Topical makeup is bacterial and your new procedure(s) need adequate time to heal to avoid irritation and/or infection.
• No facials, chemical peels or facial treatments for 2 weeks
• Do not sleep on your face
• Do not use Retin A, Retinol A, Renova or products that contain AHA’s, or similar lightening products on the procedure area (Glycolic, Lactic Acids etc). These products will fade your pigment color prematurely.
• Always wear a powerful sunscreen when in the sun, use a SPF30 or higher, on your brows. Hair strokes and lighter colors will fade faster than a solid brow fill. Fading is also dependent on your aftercare, your skin’s age and its ability to retain color. Although it is permanent, your color will fade over time. You must do your part to ensure long lasting results by proper follow up and care.
